BritishNIC dead?

Sparkle Plenty 7 November 2008 16:12:52
 Hi --

I have a couple of domains registered using britishnic.com, i've tried to
modify their details (dns servers etc) in recent days, and found that the
updates aren't being fed through - in one case the delay so far is about a
week or so.

Are they now defunct? Should I transfer out?

I, too, have a number of domains with them. I have noticed a slow down in
response - even when taking renewal fees!

I get the impression that the "system" is merely a nice front-end for
administration carried out manually when the person(s) responsible are not
at their day job.

Does anyone else know much about them?

Let me know what you decided to do.

Do you know of a .uk registry that is full automated ? Something
like joker or gandi would be nice, cheapest price is not necessarily
important.

I have tried to change the IPSTAG of my domain and the request has been acknowledged and subsequently ignored. I'm not impressed by BritishNIC. The website is full of spelling and gramatical errors showing a lack of professional care. It does the business but at 15 it is no longer cheap.

I tried to transfer my domain a week ago, and still not nothing.

I've sent them a message on their website, which they say you will have an instant e-mail giving you a confirmation number, and got nothing.

No other form of communication on their web site at all - no phone number, no e-mail address, no nothing.

Get out while you can. I've requested to move everything immediately, while I still can. It's shambolic.
