| How do I fix and open a corrupt publisher 2003 file? Davis1234 04:41:28 |
| | I have created a large website on Microsoft Publisher 2003. This morning
when trying to open the publisher file it says it is unable. How do I fix
this corrupt file so it will open? I have tried open text only but since it
is a website I get a bunch of jibberish.

the high school where I teach) pictures and short video clips that I have on
my flash drive to certain parts of the each page - NONE open.

Is there a way to/how does one, link created pages to different pages
without having the pages listed in/linked to the navigation bars? For
example, I have created a "directions" page that I want linked to my "contact
us" page but I don't want the "directions" page listed on my navigation bars.

on my computer. I don't know the hyperlink language and when I do the Preiew
Web; it won't hyperlink. When I hyperlink on Publisher it asks my twice if I
want to go to these files and if I don't know the person it may hurt my
computer. Just because my hyperlinks won't show up on the preview web page,

please tell me what's going on with GOOGLE? For many years in the past I
could do a search for any of my items/products contained in any of the 16/17
pages of my website and the search engines would find that page easily but
now GOOGLE has allowed various sites like 'Hotfrog' and 'Kellysearch' and
many others to HI-JACK my page titles and if you want to find my 'Lincot
Socks' (reg trademark), or 'Mattress Covers', Yakka Wear' or even MY NAME
'John Ahern' the results that come up will be these OTHER sites offering
links to MY pages (if you can ever find them in there - I can't!) and some
of the sites won't even allow you to reach ME until you register with THEM
first!! You hve to scroll through a hundred results before you find any
reference to my pages now.
Is there something I can do to rectify this when uploading my pages? Could
it be that I lost my rating when my site was down for a few days some weeks
ago and if so will it improve as time goes on? Would the number of 'hits' on
my site make a difference to it's rating? The other search engines are doing
the job OK but what's the use to my little business when most people are
using Google?

about trying to learn HTML. I finally figured out how to edit headings,
fonts, alignments, etc., and learned how to link to a heading on the same
page. I've been searching online tutorials trying to figure out how to link
directly to a heading on a different page. I can't find any that teach how to
do that type of linking. Is it impossible with HTML? Can any of you computer
gurus help me?

| | I wish I'd known what a disaster I was getting into when I 'upgraded' to
Pub2003 - I started to update my pages and even after I navigated all the
NEW rules I had a site that was very slow because of the new 'PNG' format
attached to some files that inflated them to 10 times their original size.
Thanks DavidF for your advise - I searched under the bed for my old Pub2000
disk and reinstalled it and after spending a week trying to convert the
updated pages back to the old format I just gave up and updated the site
completely in Pub2000.
It works fine now and it's really FAST again as it used to be. So much for
progress! My advise is if you have Pub2000 then KEEP IT for web design and
just use the later version for the rest but only if you have to! Check it
out - I'm no expert but my site works well for me and my customers:
