getting "500 Internal Server Error" - GSK_ERROR_BAD_CERT error code

 Hi all,

All of a sudden in one of our test servers, we are getting "500
Internal Server Error" page for every app we have installed on the
WAS.

Then what I found out from http_plugin.log the following messages. I
was trying to figure out that this error meant. We are not using SSL
at all. Any idea what could be the problem? Could it be some
certificate has expired? Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!
Please let me know if you need more info in order to help me.

 I have seen this in WAS 4.0. Here is a technote from IBM on it :

See if it applies to your WAS 5.0 environment.

IBM default certificates did expire yesterday on WAS 5.0. You may be
suffering from that. Here is a technote on that :

Hopefully one of these technotes is the solution.

 This hit us unaware, took our production system down for over 2 hours.

Upgrading to the cumulative fix 5.0.2.9 did the trick for us.

It would seem reasonable for IBM to have a better notification system
to warn customers about these critical items. Just posting a link on
the WebSphere support site seems more reactive than proactive.

Does anyone know if there is anything like a WebSphere developer/admin
newsletter?
