| Why does this site have a PR 5? Guest 12:30:21 |
| | http://www.renaldobernard.com Looks to me like it has no backlinks, 1 page on the site. I am unable to determine the age, and I have verified that it is not a forward.
Puzzling to me.
Thanks

| Does hosting location make difference for search results? Polina Pospelova 22:31:12 |
| | I am about to develop 12 European sites all in different languages.
Our hosting servers are all in London.
I was told the client that every site should be hosted in the country of its origin for better search results. For example Polish site should be hosted in Poland, etc.
Does anybody know if the hosting location makes any difference for search results?
Thank you, Polly

| Am I over using keywords on this website Wendy Tinley 21:34:45 |
| | Hiya,
If you have a moment please would you look at
http://www.disc-calif.com/
The key phrase for this site is 'loan servicing software'.
The site is languishing at #10 - supposed to have a PR5
The site is written using validated HTML, uses <H1> <H2> etc
Or is it merely that the sites above just have more/better PR IBLs?
I've searched on Google's data bases and my own site is PR6 and links to this site from the index page yet I cannot see my page listed as an IBL...
It gets a bit frustrating when sites performing better don't use <h1> etc...

| Listing in European domestic Search Results Rob 21:02:09 |
| | Hi there,
I want to get listed in the French results for msn.fr and the Spanish results on msn.es.
Seems to me domain names are important on MSN, so I'm assuming that the main way would be to have a .fr and .es domain, which seem to have conditions attached to registration and aren't cheap either. I was thinking it would be more straightforward for me to to have a french and spanish pages under a .eu domain, but has anyone managed to get a .eu domain listed on a country's local search results?
I've heard that the coutnry where your hosting is could have a bearing too, but I'd like to achieve this without having hosting packages in each country. Anyone got any tips?
Cheers
Rob

| Google doesn't seem to be ubject to the same rules as everyone else Dj 18:46:39 |
| | If you go to google and seach for either search engine or "search engine" it is no suprise to see google being at #1.
However the twist(s) are: goole does not contain this string anywhere on its first page and more bizare why would any one need this anyway as they are in fact using it do to the search.

| Online collaborative writing website? Ivan Pavlov 22:15:08 |
| | Several months ago I found a website and now I've lost its address. I tried Google but perhaps I am searching for the wrong keywords. Can someone help me find it?
The website offered online writing and collaboration tools for authors (like collaborative fiction). It was a place where you can publish stories and have other people participate in the writing process. It was specifically designed for this purpose (i.e. not a forum/bulletin board thing). I can't find it with a search engine, perhaps I don't use the appropriate terms. It was somewhat similar to http://bibli.ca but with collaboration features and advanced writing functions (like plot ideas, characters definition, etc.)
Can someone help me in this?

| Importance of HTML 4.01 Transitional Validation Supremepages 21:50:53 |
| | Hi everybody,
I am running my shopping related site http://www.supremedeal.com/ So far I was using affiliate program links which didn't make me any HTML 4.01 Transitional Validation problems. (I was using W3C Markup Validation Service to validate webpages)
Now some of those affiliates are switching their code to Javascript and at this point the webpages cannot pass the above mentioned validation.
If it's so important, I would rather drop those affiliates than risk with my site.
Could anyone answer if HTML 4.01 Transitional Validation is really important? If the answer is YES, then how it can affect the status of the website. (SE ranking, PR, are there any penalties for that, etc.)
I would very appreciate someone's answer.
Thank you, Peter

| I completely rebuild my website www.lincostar.eu Rudyard Kipling 15:01:35 |
| | My website www.lincostar.eu has been completely revised. Two weeks ago, i posted here a question titled: "how long does it take ?" I got full loads of critisism over me. Not just about the SEO but also about the excess html code and other issues.
So, hopefully today you all can see whether the new version is better.
In my opinion, the only thing still missing is the design, the style, the balance in colours. But purely technical it should be all right now. So i'm waithing for Google to grab the new version and delete the old crappy one from theie database. Does someone knows why BaiDu still not grabed my site ?
What do you think ? All suggestions are very welcome. www.lincostar.eu

| OT/ Scammers, don't you love them! T.J. 00:59:30 |
| | Had this through in an email last night,
"I've been listed on here for a while, I've had no jobs, no nothing, I've had more success from ebay, are there refunds? I've only been on it for a 2/3 weeks, and no joy what so ever, is it possible that I pay for the 3 weeks I'm on here and have a refund for the rest?"
I wrote back asking what he was on about, and apparently somebody phoned him up, supposedly from my directory and sold him a listing on my directory for Ј100. He paid by credit card to a complete stranger for a basic directory listing that he could have had for free.
Got to admire the nerve of the guy who sold it him, but it's got me thinking who else has this scammer conned and is he still doing it?
