| | I have written my site at merrows.com, and I would like help in getting
better listings.
I did contact some SEO consultants but they wanted too much money. The
companies seem to offer a package which is made up of site analysis,
market analysis, technical analysis, and recommendations. Just the site
analysis can cost 500 pounds (800-900 dollars).
Merrows (my company) is small (just me), but I am from a software
engineering background so I just need to know how the search engines
view sites rather than any technical details.
The site is XML/XSL-->HTML and generated from databases so the HTML can
be changed very easily and the whole 10,000 pages with all database
loads can be generated in only about 2-3 hours. There are also CSS's,
making styles easy to change, but the real power is in the XSL. I wrote
the software application myself.
I now have the rights on 30,000 new images and text descriptions and I
will add them in the next few months via my software which will mean
about 30,000 new pages for the product lines.
Can someone point towards any SEO consultants who are working freelance
and therefore wont want huge fees?

my site this morning and there was a scrolling banner on my sites
content: you have been hacked by (xxx). i forgot the name of it, at any
rate, i searched my logs and was shocked to see who had been in my
admin on that morning. i am pasting the log:

i contacted my server admin, who done the upgrade on php-nuke for me,
as you need ssh and i am on a shared server. i then sent an email to
google to let them know this had occurred, and as of yet, they have not
even acknowledged receipt of the notice. there is no mention of this
type of activity on the net, as i have searched the big 3 SEs. if
somebody in here knows or can help me get the word spread about this,
that google needs to take a look at what is going on with that IP and
the media bot.

engines with progressively fewer hits.
All I ever see now is Google and Yahoo 92% and 8% respectively and no
other engines mentioned.
My Google rating is 6/10 which I gather is respectable but wonder if
that makes me smell bad to the others.
Any thoughts?
