Oracle ODBC/OLEDB - can't get it to work

Martijn Tonies 4 January 2005 14:51:50
 Hi all,

I've just did another re-install of the Oracle 10g client.

I can see the Oracle ODBC driver in the Windows ODBC
Control Applet. But whenever I select it, it returns an:
---------------------------
Microsoft ODBC Administrator
---------------------------
The setup routines for the Oracle in OraClient10g_home1 ODBC driver could
not be loaded due to system error code 998.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

As for the OLEDB driver - it doesn't show up in the list of
available OLEDB drivers.

Does anyone have an idea?

I've searched, but cannot find a workable solution to get this
ODBC working :-(

Never mind ... got it working. It depends whether I
start the ODBC Control Panel thingy from the Windows
menu or from a custom application. Duh.

I had this same problem too, but I was able to get it to work by adding
the Oraclce client directory to the Windows Path.

Thanks,
Drew

 Hi Martijn,

just yesterday, i have the same problem.
check at first, if the path environement variable points to the oracle bin directory.
For examplet at to the path variable c:\oracle\ora1020\bin, if this is the directory, where the oracle driver is installed.

Hi there, it seems that you encountered the corruption of Oracle database. Please try the recover dbf utility that can be found here: http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/data_base_corrupt_file_to_recover_foxpro.html. Recovery Toolbox for DBF quickly fixes database errors and eliminates data corruption problems

That's caused by more oracle products installed in your local system which enable your environment variable path point to incorrect path, make sure the oracle database server path list at the beginning of the environment variable path. Such as "D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraDb10g_home\BIN;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraDb10g_home\jre\1.4.2\bin\client;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraDb10g_home\jre\1.4.2\bin;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraWB\bin;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraWB\jre\1.4.2\bin\client;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraWB\jre\1.4.2\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;"
