Try out Annotations in Editor!

David Konecny 25 July 2001 19:46:26
 Hi *,

after weeks of discussing and semicoloning here are the first results:

I've just committed into CVS new version of Netbeans Editor with basic
support for displaying of annotations.

If you've already forgotten what it means, try to add bookmark or set
breakpoint and you should see small glyph icon next to line number.
Check also Tools->Options->Annotation Type folder for all currently
available annotation types.

What is implemented in this version:
* wholeline annotations are supported
* cycling through the annotations on the line (try to add bookmark &
breakpoint on the same line and small "button" for cycling should
appear)
* customization of colors (changes are not persistent yet)

What remains to do:
* handling of combinations
* drawing of glyphs of covered annotations on the background
* tooltips/context menu for glyphs icons
* full implementation of Line.Part (part line annotations)
* task for HIE/UI: define final colors & icons (all current icons/colors
are temporary and will most probably change)

Known bugs:
* if you customize annotation type colors, the editor is not repainted
(scroll down and up solves the problem)
* the annotations are based on current implementation of Marks in
editor. It also means that all bugs like 5620 or 5342 are still valid
also for annotations. This should be fixed in next weeks.
* probably a lot of other bugs - if you find some let me know or file it
in IssueZilla for editor module. Thanx in advance for help and patience.

Enjoy,
David

Enjoy,> David>

I just want to mention another two known bugs with debugger annotations:
1. If you try to change properties for "Breakpoint" annotation, nothing happens (nor after focusing to Editor window...) since all
breakpoints pretend as Conditional Breakpoints...
2. When you disable some breakpoint, there will not appear "Disabled Breakpoint" annotation but old one disappears (as it always
was).

So, please be patient with this...and with temporary used icons & colors, as well :)

Gabo
