I trust this is the correct forum for this post. I'm using Partition Magic 8 to copy the boot partition(NTFS) to a new drive. I receive the above error and the copy does not succeed. KB article at Symantec advises using chkdsk /f or /r. I've tried both to no avail. I notice there are 2 fragments in the MFT of the boot drive which the OS defrag does not repair Could that be the source of the error? Any ideas please? TIA Patrick
Hi, this post wont really be of much help but it might be good to know that you are not suffering alone. I get exactly the same error. I'm sure by now you have fixed the problem or bypassed it, if you could tell me what you have done (if anything) i would appreciate it. Thanx Mike
Mike, Have you sorted the PM8 error 732 problem yet or had a reply to your earlier post? In my case, I was trying to resize the C partition and got error 1532 and the on-line guide advised to apply patch to system 32. When done and tried resize again, 732 error came up but Symantec site does not seem to recognise it. Somebody must surely otherwise how come!!!!!!! Arfermo
I too would love to hear how to fix this. I just want to resize a partition on my secondary drive (old hard drive) I tried using Ghost initially to do the copy but had the 732 error and eventually gave up with Norton Ghost and tried Acronis True Image. It worked a treat no probs. i would still like to resize the old hard drive's partitions and am using Norton Partition Magic 8 and get the same 732 error. I am thinking I will have to format the whole disk and start again. I wanted to keep the data as a backup to ensure the new copy was all good and then use True Image to make regular backups but I need to make a bigger partition on the old drive to do this. Anyways, don't bother with Ghost, go for Acronis True Image.
I had read all the entries on this page, had had the same problems with the results with PM8... Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 marched through and fixed, slash and burn, all my hard drive problems with no errors whatsoever - thank you all for some great information on a product that delivers what it says... ...ans svng me replacing 14 gigs of music and pics.....
