| | Eric Lempel, Sony's Director of PlayStation Network Operations, has posted on the official PlayStation 3 blog that the upcoming PS3 firmware update, version 2.53 will bring improvements to the Flash Player via the internet browser.
From the blog:
"Hi everyone, in the next PS3 firmware update (v2.53), coming soon, we’re improving the way the Flash Player works with the internet browser. In addition to being able to access more sites using Flash, you’ll be able to enjoy:
* Full-screen mode playability
* Live movie (using RTMP format) playability
Now it’s going to be even easier to enjoy web content on your PS3, in full-screen!"
Although that is the most notable update, gamesareevil says this is the full update list:

* You now have an option to set the PS3 to turn off automatically after a background download or installation of content. This option is available when you turn off the system while content is being downloaded or installed.

According to Macquarie Securities analyst David Gibson, Nintendo makes $6 USD operating profit on each Wii unit sold, making it the only "next-gen" console to make a profit on the actual unit.
The analyst also noted that Sony makes a decent sized loss on each PlayStation 3 sold and that Microsoft has the potential to break even on each Xbox 360 console sold, but still may not.
Besides making profit on each console, the Wii sells the most software of the new consoles, selling an estimated 220 million units for 2008. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are estimated to sell under 130 million units each.
Nintendo also capitalizes on its position in the market by selling 60 percent of the Wii games itself compared to only 15 percent for Sony and 30 percent for Microsoft. The Wii's top selling games are all developed by Nintendo.

According to a flooding of posts over at xbox-scene, it appears that the cooler-running Jasper-based Xbox 360 consoles have begun arriving in stores featuring the highly anticipated 65nm GPU which should significantly reduce RROD failures.
A quick way to note if your new console is indeed a Jasper-based model is to check the power supply. A Jasper will use 12.1A power supplies, while all current models draw 14.2A.
Looking at the serial number can also give you an indication as it is assumed that any model made on October 23rd 2008 or later is a Jasper model.

Click "Tools", and select "Preference..." from the drop-down list. In the left panel of "Options", navigate to "CD Options". In the right panel of "CD Options", choose TuneClone virtual CD drive as the preferred CD burner.
Note: Please tick "Burn CD Text" to preserve the metadata of the music.
4. Start to burn
Click the "Burn Disk" button to start the burning and encoding process.
After the burning gets started, TuneClone will automatically convert the music file to MP3. You can open the manager screen to show all the converted music files.

| | Recently I had published a side-by-side comparison of the iPhone 3G and T-Mobile G1 which evoked an interesting debate.(from:iphonehacks)
Here comes another side-by-side comparison of Apple's iPhone 3G with RIM's BlackBerry Storm, which is considered as another iPhone Killer.
BlackBerry Storm is expected to be released some time in November exclusively by Verizon in the US and Vodafone in UK.

Unlike T-Mobile G1 that we have reviewed earlier, BlackBerry Storm "steals" the design and looks much like the iPhone 3G. However, it does not look as sleek as iPhone 3G. It's a little bit thicker (0.14inches more) and heavier (22g more) than iPhone 3G. And, surprisingly, BlackBerry Storm does not come with Wi-Fi support or they probably consider Verizon's 3G network is good enough.
BlackBerry Storm's screen is also a little bit smaller (3.2 inch) as compared to iPhone 3G (3.5 inch), however it sports a slightly higher resolution (460x360 pixels) than iPhone 3G (460x360 pixels).

Input Method
With the success of iPhone's multi-touch interface, touch is now the standard for any new smartphone. Like iPhone, Storm does not have physical slide-out keyboard and uses the screen as input, in fact its RIM's first smartphone to feature a touch screen. However, RIM highlights that the touch technology developed on Storm is somewhat different to other touch screen smartphone available. RIM refers its touch technology as "Clickable Screen". That means, when users press key on screen, they can actually feel the key pressed and release, just like you press the mouse button. They call it a game changing touch technology that makes on-screen keyboard more appealing.
Also, like T-Mobile G1, it will have built-in cut and paste capability across applications a feature missing from iPhone 3G.
Winner:Its difficult to call a winner on this one, until we get feedback from users on RIM's touch technology. We love iPhone 3G's revolutionary multi-touch interface.
Multimedia
Multimedia support is not the strong area of RIM smartphones, as they predominantly targets business users. Storm is developed with multiple support in mind to lure more casual users. Standard feature like music and video playback is included. A wide range of audio format (including MP3, AAC, WMA, etc) and video format (including MPEG4, WMV, etc). Storm also allows you to sync iTunes music files via BlackBerry Media Sync and has its own media software to manage your music.
iPhone 3G is the best iPod Apple has ever created. The music and video playback experience is awesome. And, Apple continues to update features like Genius Playlist into iPhone makes iPhone's multimedia support nearly unbeatable. With its seamless integration with iTunes Store, you can download songs wirelessly or sync it between desktop using iTunes. iPhone 3G also supports a wide range of music formats but only plays Quick Time video.
Winner: iPhone 3G
Camera & Video Recording
Apple did not upgrade the camera in iPhone 3G, its still a basic 2 megapixel camera while Storm comes with 3.2 megapixel camera and includes video recording capability. Storm also includes a flash and auto focus for its camera.
Winner: BlackBerry Storm
Modem Capability
iPhone 3G does not support tethering and Apple tends to ban any applications in App Store that adds this capability. The only option you have is to jailbreak the iPhone and use jailbreak apps such as PDANet, iPhoneModem etc. BlackBerry Storm, on the other hands, comes with tethering built-in.
Winner: BlackBerry Storm

Enterprise Feature
Apple has made quite a few strides to take market share from RIM in the enterprise area. iPhone 3G, with built-in support for Microsoft's ActiveSync protocol, lets enterprise users to access Microsoft Exchange's services. Also, it takes a great step forwards to support Cisco IPsec VPN, which is a standard in enterprise wireless security. Further, it incorporates a feature to let administrator to wipe data remotely, in case the iPhone is lost or stolen.
RIM is always the leader in enterprise wireless devices. Storm, by no means, continues to lead in this area. The enterprise support is outstanding that different security policies can be defined, such that administrator may enable or shutdown specific bluetooth profiles; and even, to disable its digital camera access.
Winner: BlackBerry Storm
To sum up, BlackBerry strikes a balance between business and causal use. It's, by far, the sleekest BlackBerry; which should help RIM lure causal customers.
Is it another iPhone killer? Its difficult to conclude. iPhone 3G and BlackBerry both come with some unique features that neither have and they are positioned differently in the market.
However, I still fail to understand the omission of Wi-Fi in BlackBerry Storm, its true that BlackBerry is targeted at the business users who use it primarily for email, but still it seems like a major disadvantage over iPhone 3G.
As a consumer device, iPhone will definitely win thanks to the iPod application, its Safari browser which is easily the most advanced web browser on a portable device which makes browsing the internet on the iPhone a treat and overall for its cool factor. But if you turn to some business-savvy users and enterprise, BlackBerry is still the de-facto choice.
RIM has also not disclosed the pricing or the official shipping date.

iTunes has invaded pretty much all musical use on the computer anymore, people who don't really know much about computers hear about iTunes and assume that's what they're supposed to use for their music on their computers. They transferred over many, many songs, and of course his mp3 player, a Sandisk, can't play them so he was stuck with what to do next. So he called me for help, mind you though, most of his music isn't copy protected/copy righted etc, he's actually a world renowned Waltz or Ballroom Dance instructor, so he's got tons of music he uses for that kind of stuff, and once they spent the hours to put it in his computer via iTunes he was basically stuck, it was either re-do it all through another program, buy an iPod or figure out another way to get his music to his Sandisk player converted to Mp3 format.
So there are a few free versions out there that will help my friend out, but I needed something that was easy to use, very easy to use and I found TuneClone, which is very easy to use so that's what I've got for review today. There's really not much to do on the end user part of this program, most is done automatically. Load up TuneClone and hit the 'Open Media Player' button and your iTunes or whatever will open for you. If you wish you can change the output directory, and other settings like bitrates etc, but for most the default settings are fine.
To use TuneClone you just burn a CD with your program, I'm using iTunes of course, you just have to make sure the destination drive is the TuneClone virtual CD, other than that there's nothing else to change really.
As soon as you hit burn, your CD will start to burn virtually and then TuneClone goes to work converting the files to MP3 format for you automatically.
That's it, there's really nothing much more to it, very easy to use for even someone who doesn't know much about computers.

Every Christmas people take a off from their busy schedule. This is the time they can enjoy with their family and friends. But how can you make the Christmas holiday unforgettable? You may hold a party, stay with your family, play games and exchange presents; or for most Christians, it is a time to worship God and go to church.
Whatever you do, it is certain that you want to keep this happy memory forever and share the joys with your family and friends. Many of us take photos, keeping details of every happy moment. What should you prepare?
The first thing you need is slideshow software. A good slideshow software is easy to use and gets rich templates. Step-by-Step instruction
With all these things consider, we are now ready for making a Christmas photo slideshow. Now I will take Photo Flash Maker for example, give you the step by step instruction.
First, go to www.photo-flash-maker.com and download Photo Flash Maker
Second, add and edit pictures
Click “Add” button and add the picture you want. Drag and drop them to rearrange the slide order in the lower window. Upon the “edit” button, you can:
1. Edit the picture info, including title, hyperlinks, picture description, and transition effect and rotate the pictures.
2. Add texts to the picture. You could select different letterform, the size of the letter and the other common setting.

Third, Apply transition

You can also set the transition duration, photo show duration.
Fourth, choose a theme and add background music
Please go to the “Theme” interface. There will be basic and advanced templates. You can select your favorite template and add background music.

Fifth, publish
The final step is “publish”. There are three output options under the publish window. If you want to enjoy flash in your computer or upload to your own website, you can select “Create Flash File Only”. If you want to make a Gift/Presentation CD/DVD, select the second option and set CD/DVD recorder, recording speed and label etc, then click “Start Burn” to create a Gift CD/DVD. The third option is for you to upload your photo slideshow to Go2Album and share your joy with your friends and even more people.
