Hard drive not being seen by the computer Guest 22:32:43
 When I boot the computer up, i goes right to the BIOS, when I put the HD in another computer as a slave, it will read the hard drive, same with when I set it as a master on the same computer. I switched the IDE cables many times, and still does the same thing. When i ran same dignostic tools on it, it said there was not HD drivers on the computer. i ran a dignostic on the Mem, and the Motherboard, and they all passed.

 I also would like to know about this. It comes and goes for me, the nightly scans come clean (0 Items found)and the software updates itself regularly. Nothing in the MSAS help file explains this.

had 250 maxtor go down in similar circumstances (lost power... Guest 17:20:09
 had 250 maxtor go down in similar circumstances (lost power to drive )hooked up to spare ide plug then downloaded test/repair utility from maxtor support site , dropped it to a floppy disk which i ran as boot disk with drive connected , mine passed most tests but eventually utility re-wrote drive in full had no problems since (lesson here i think)try this before you put it in the bin , ps. my m/b detected the drive just couldnt access it in xp.
