Does anyone know what is causing it and how to avoid it as it is becoming a real problem for us.

If you go to cfadmin/settings and uncheck "enable HTTP status codes", this will give you the standard CF error which should help you diagnose the root cause of the problem. If it turns out to be a timeout thing then you might need to add <cfsetting requesttimeout="..."> to the long running pages.

If you find out what was causing this error, please let me know. This is the same error I was getting the other day that was mysteriously solved by reinstalling CF 7 and Apache... I'm not experiencing the problem any more, but I'd love to know what it was.

Just to let all know. This morning one of our farcry sites started to throw a 500 null error message in a blank page without debugging or anything else.
After digging in to the problem. I realized that the hosting company changed the IP address for the website.
So I went to the fusettings and added the new ip. I also went to the FriendURLs.txt file and replaced the old ip to the new one. Restarted CF and everything works fine now.
I am using Win2003, IIS6, CFMX7, SQL2k, FarCry b230 and FourQ b123

We have the same problem that you've described. It happens on all pages for us, so we can't change any administrator setting. And it happend on more than one computer. Restarting CF doesn't work either. Did anybody found the cause of the recurent problem? (If you have the answer, please post a copy at etienne@ideonova.com) Thanks!
Same problem here after an install of CFMX7 upgrading from CFMX6. Initially everything worked, but after a restart of CFMX7 all I get on any CFM page is "500 NULL"

Ok...but my question is this. What if you are on a forum and someone is typing in some sort of HTML code to make the 500 NULL error? It effectively ends threads. What are they typing and as the admin, what do I look for to make it so it can't be done anymore?
